Samsung has started rolling out One UI 9, its Android 17-based software update, to the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. Engadget reports that the update is also available on the Galaxy S26 FE. The rollout began on September 16, 2026, after One UI 9 debuted on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8.
The update adds camera, AI, device care, security, and privacy tools. Samsung says the wider rollout will happen gradually, so availability may differ by Galaxy model and market.
What One UI 9 adds
- My FanCam automatically tracks a selected person in a recorded video and keeps them centered as they move.
- New Generative and Editable Cards in Now Brief let users choose information from areas such as health, weather, and video.
- Warranty and Care puts warranty details, device diagnostics, repair estimates, Samsung Care+ management, and service booking in the Settings menu.
- Now Nudge offers context-aware suggestions, such as adding event details from a conversation to the calendar.
- Interpreter adds Thread View for translated conversations. Document Scan improves capture of curved book pages and papers with folded corners.
- Voice Recorder presents summaries in a clearer structure, including headings and tables.
Privacy tools are part of the update
One UI 9 adds Security Brief, which surfaces alerts about malware, apps installed from unknown sources, and unnecessary permissions. Privacy Alerts use on-device AI to identify possible privacy risks, including unnecessary attempts to access permissions in the background. Samsung also says Scam Detection is expanding to Japan, Canada, and India. Availability can vary by country, language, device, and software version.
The full rollout schedule is still unclear
Samsung says One UI 9 will gradually reach other Galaxy devices. A Samsung footnote cited by 9to5Google names the Galaxy S25 and S25 FE, Galaxy S24 and S24 FE, Galaxy S23 and S23 FE, several recent Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip models, and selected Galaxy Tab devices in connection with Privacy Alerts. The list is partial and does not provide a complete rollout timetable.
Galaxy S26 series owners are the first group to check for the stable update. Owners of other Galaxy devices will need to wait for their model’s rollout in each market.
