As like the other versions of the Android, Android 9 Pie also allows users to change the default app selection for various option. In most of the Android mobiles now, the default browser app is Chrome, similarly the messaging application has been set as Google Message and the dialer application is set as Google Phone app.

If you need to change the default application, whether it is browser app or the messaging application, you can set it from the Settings. The settings cannot be found out easily for some users in Android 9.

Follow the below steps to set or change the default app selection for your Android Application.

Step 1: Go to the settings option of your Android 9 mobile

Step 2: From the settings click on Apps & notifications

Step 3: From the Apps and Notifications section, click on Advanced option

Step 4: Now, click on the Default apps

Step 5: In the next window, you can see the list of available option, where you can change the default app selection.

Step 6: Click on the application, which you need to change the default app. For example, if you need to change the browser application, click on the β€˜Browser app’,

Step 7: In the next window, you can see the list of available browser application

Step 8: Click on the required application, that you need set it as the default application.

Done, now you set the new application as the default application on your Android P device. In the same way, you can change the messaging app, dialer app, assistance app, home launcher etc.

Also, in the default selection options, you can see the list of available applications if you have installed additional applications from play store only. Otherwise you can see only the default app that pre-installed on your mobile.
