The dark mode is an essential feature in almost all applications these days, whether it is an iPhone or an Android. Both iOS and Android now support system-level dark themes, and thus all the compatible applications can automatically switch between dark and light themes as per the system preference.
However, we all know that iPhone’s customization capability is much limited compared with Android. On an Android device, you can change the theme of an app specifically to dark or light without making the system-level change. For example, if your system theme is set to light mode, you can turn on Instagram dark mode separately. Similarly, you can turn on light mode on Instagram, even if your device is in dark mode.
However, this app-specific dark mode and light mode is not available on iPhone and iPad. To turn on Instagram dark mode on iPhone or an iPad, you need to change the system theme to dark. The same is applicable for other apps also. This artcile will see how to enable Instagram dark mode on Android and iPhone.
How to Turn on Instagram Dark Mode on iPhone
As mentioned earlier, iPhone and iPad only offer system-level dark mode and light mode for the application. So if you enable the dark mode from the iPhone settings, all the applications, including Instagram, will be turned to dark mode. To do so, follow the below steps.

Step 2: Scroll down and tap on the Display & Brightness option.

Step 5: Finally, open the Instagram app and see the Instagram App in the Dark theme.
Once the dark mode is enabled, all the applications that support dark and light mode will turn dark on your iPhone and iPad. Alternatively, you can set the dark mode option to automatic, and your system and app will turn to dark and light mode based on the time preference.

Note: If you have enabled the system-level dark mode, you can set the theme option within the Instagram app to System default so that the Instagram app will automatically turn to dark. Similarly, the Instagram app will turn the light once the system-level light theme is enabled.
The app-level theme settings on android are additional customization which is not available on iPhone. The app-level theme will override the system-level theme. In short, if you set the Instagram app theme to dark, then the Instagram app will always be dark, and it will not change automatically once you change the system-level theme. Similarly, the light theme on the Instagram app will make the Instagram app always light.
So, to make the Instagram app automatically turn to dark and light, enable the option to System theme.
