Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite smartphone which was initially supporting Single 4G now seems to be supporting Dual 4G. The change appeared after receiving the official Android P Update. We found both SIM cards now connected to 4G network at the same time. Before we go into the details, let see an overview of the new update and the handset itself.
Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite is one of the great budget oriented smartphone from Xiaomi. The main highlight of the handset is that, it comes under the Android One Program. It was powered by Android 8.1 Oreo once released in July. Since it comes under Android One program, the latest Android 9 (Android P) Pie was also guaranteed for the device at the release time itself.

As expected the device now started receiving the update and many users from Poland and Indonesia already got the official stable release. The roll out was in the initial stage and in batch process. Therefore all the other users especially from US, UK, Canada and users from some Asian countries like Malaysia, Singapore etc should have to wait. They will get the official update in the upcoming weeks as officially OTA update.
If you are not ready to wait for that much time, then no need to worry. There is a simple technique by which we can get the update within few minutes. You can check the article to know how you can get the android p update on your Mi A2 Lite now.
Android P on Mi A2 Lite
As we mentioned above, along with all other new features in the Android P, we accidentally noticed the dual 4G. Currently both SIM card is registered to 4G network at the same time. Xiaomi clearly mentioned in their website that, in the case of Mi A2 Lite, it will support 4G network on one SIM at a time. The next SIM card will be in 3G or 2G at that time. It was like that, once released, whichever SIM card we opt in for the Data Connection, will be registered to 4G network. At the same time, the next SIM card will be registered to 3G or 2G depends on the availability.
But now, it is showing 4G network on SIM card whether it is selected as Data connection or not. There is no official information regarding the update. However, we think as seen in some other phones, now Mi A2 Lite is also supporting Dual 4G network. But we need to get the official confirmation. So let wait for that.

How To Check if 4G is available to both SIM
Initially when the device when it was running on Android Oreo, the device support only 4G in the Data SIM only. The second slot will support 3G or 2G. Here when you manually search for network from the Data SIM slot, you will get all the available mobile network in your area with 4G, 3G and 2G options. In the case of the secondary slot will only show 3G and 2G available networks.
Now, when your Mi A2 Lite running on Android P, if you manually search for network from both slots, you will get 4G, 3G and 2G networks from both slot.
Even Though the SIM is registering to 4G network from both slots together, we are not sure does it support Dual 4G VoLTE, We tested this option from outside India where VoLTE is not being used. We will check this with Jio Network once it is possible and will update on the same.
Confirmed dual 4G with dual VoLTE!!!!
It shows HD next to both signal indicator at the status bar!!! (Real annoying for me to take up precious space)
