- Paste it into your reply box.

How to Stop Quoting

How to Quote on iPhone (iOS)
iPhone users have a harder time because long-pressing a comment usually collapses the thread instead of highlighting the text. You have to use a workaround.
The “Copy Text” Method:
* Tap the three dots (…) under the comment you want to quote.
* Select Copy Text. (Note: This copies the entire comment).
* Tap Reply.
* Type > and paste the text.
* Manually delete the parts of the comment you don’t want to include.
How to Quote an Original Post (OP)
Sometimes you want to quote the main post (the OP) rather than a comment. Paradoxically, the app often blocks you from selecting text in the main post.
The “Reference Pane” Trick:
1. Don’t try to copy text from the main feed.
2. Tap the Reply button on the main post first.
3. Look at the top of your screen; you will often see the original post text there.
4. Long-press and select the text from that top area—it is usually selectable there even if it wasn’t before.
5. Copy it and use the > method to format it.
Advanced: Quoting Multiple Paragraphs
If you are quoting a long argument with multiple paragraphs, simply putting a > at the very beginning won’t work. The formatting stops as soon as it hits a line break.
To fix this, you must add a > at the start of every new paragraph and empty line.
Don’t do this:
