BSNL has introduced India’s first Intranet Live TV service, IFTV, making live TV more accessible and exciting for its FTTH users. This free service lets you watch live TV channels easily through the BSNL Live TV app on your Android TV. With a quick setup and easy login using your mobile number, BSNL IFTV brings entertainment right to your home. Here’s everything you need to know to get started!

BSNL has launched India’s first Intranet Live TV service called IFTV, now available in the Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu circles. All BSNL FTTH (Fiber Broadband) users can currently enjoy the Live TV service for free.

BSNL IFTV is an app-based service that allows customers to install the BSNL Live TV application on their Android TV, available for download from the Google Play Store. After downloading, users can log in to the app using their registered mobile number and an OTP to enjoy free Live TV channels.

BSNL Live TV (IFTV) Configuration on Modem (ONT)

Once registration for the Live TV service is completed, configuration on the customer’s ONT modem may be necessary. Usually, the local cable operator performs the modem configuration, but if you’re familiar with such setups, you can do it yourself by following these steps:

Step 1:

Go to the Network Option and create a new WAN configuration with the following details:

  • Mode: Route
  • IP Protocol Mode: IPV4
  • Enable NAT: Yes (Tick)
  • Enable VLAN: Yes (Tick)
  • VLAN ID: 1900
  • MTU: 1500
  • Request DNS: Enable
  • Service Mode: Internet

Note: Leave the Port Binding option unchecked as the service will be available automatically on all ports.

Step 2:

Under the Network option, click on Route, then go to Static Route, and create a new Route using these details:

  • Enable: Yes (Tick)
  • Destination: 138.138.138.0
  • Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
  • Gateway: 11.0.0.9
  • Metric: 1
  • Interface: 2_INTERNET_R_VID_1900 (select the newly created WAN Interface)

Step 3:

Under ‘Application’, select ‘IGMP’, then click on ‘IGMP Snooping’ and enable the “IGMP Snooping” option.

Step 4:

Still under ‘Application’, select ‘IGMP’, then click on ‘IGMP Proxy’ and enable “IGMP Enabled” for “2_INTERNET_R_VID_1900”.

Step 5:

Under the same ‘Application’ tab, click on ‘MLD’ and select ‘MLD Snooping’. Enable the ‘MLD Snooping’ option.

Step 6:

Finally, under the ‘Application’ tab, click on ‘Daily Application’. From the list, click on the edit (pencil icon) for the option ‘2_INTERNET_R_VID_1900’ and enter the VLAN ID ‘1900’ in the “Multicast VLAN (blank indicates no setting)” area. Once entered, click on the ‘Modify’ button.

Configuration on the modem/ONT is now complete. You can proceed to download and install the BSNL Live TV application on your Android TV.

Once downloaded, enter the registered mobile number to receive an OTP. After verifying the OTP, you can log in to the BSNL Live TV application to start enjoying the Live TV services.

Note: This service is currently available only in Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. The above settings were tested in the Tamil Nadu circle.
