Meta has released a Mac app for Muse, its personal AI agent. The company announced the rollout on September 17, bringing Muse’s task-focused assistant to the desktop.
According to Meta and The Verge, Muse can organize files, fill out forms, and pull information from apps including Messages, Calendar, and Notes. Users choose which apps the agent can connect to and how much access it receives. Muse is built to carry out tasks as well as answer questions.
What Muse can do on a Mac
Muse can work across files and connected apps using information from the current task. Meta says the service can open a browser, fill out forms, send emails, book travel, and continue working on longer tasks after the app is closed. It asks for approval before actions such as sending an email or making a purchase.
On Mac, users can ask Muse to find information in Notes, organize files, or combine details from Calendar and Messages. The results depend on the permissions granted to the agent and the services it can access.
Availability and limits
9to5Mac reports that Muse is available in the United States for now. The service is free to start, with weekly limits, while paid plans provide more access. The sources reviewed do not include a wider release date.
Muse uses Meta’s Secure VM, which houses the agent and a person’s data in a dedicated virtual machine. People choose which apps Muse can connect to and how much access it gets. Meta says Muse checks with the user before sensitive actions such as sending an email or making a purchase.
