A few years back, Reliance Jio launched their International Roaming (IR) service for postpaid and prepaid customers. The service is now available in 170 countries, and subscribers can enjoy one of the cheapest International Roaming services available in the World.
At the launch time, we tested their service and experienced some issues too, regarding that we wrote an article about our experience too. Now, after years, we can say that the company has fixed almost all the issues regarding International roaming and you can use choose Jio while traveling abroad. But it is also to be noted that some users face some problems, but it is happening to only a few.
Jio International Roaming Countries List
Here in this artcile, we are going to list the countries where Jio’s International Roaming service is available. To enjoy their cheapest roaming service, you need to recharge with any of the IR packs available to get the IR service activated on your Jio number.
You can choose the global IR pack of Rs. 1101 and Rs. 1102 or unlimited packs such as Rs. 575, Rs. 2875 or Rs. 5751 to get the IR service activated. Please note that Unlimited packs are available only in selected 20 countries. For the rest of the countries, you can use the global pack with a pay-as-you-go rate. The calling rate is different in each country, starting from Rs. 2 per minute. Since Pack 1101 is the popular plan, you can choose that too, and you can find Jio 1101 plan details if you need to know more.
You need to do the recharge of the IR pack at least 4 hours before your departure from India. Jio needs your Jio number under the Jio network to activate the service on your number. You can check here, how you can do Jio International Roaming Activation also the issues that might happen while using the service.

Read: How to Activate International Roaming Facility On BSNL Prepaid Mobile Number ?
Note: We recommend you to do the activation before your journey if possible so that you can make sure that the service is activated before your travel. You don’t need to worry about validity. Some people are concerned about the fact that, if they do the recharge one day prior to the journey, then they may lose one-day validity after reaching the destination.
That is not the case, your recharge will be queued as the upcoming plan and it will be activated only once you reach the international destination.
I work in Qatar offshore fields. As per your list of countries, the JIO partner in Qatar is OOREDOO. Offshore, we do not get the 4G OOREDOO network. So will my JIO IR calls and sms work offshore, or will I need 4G to make calls from JIO IR?
In the international location, there is no need of 4G for Jio to work. Jio will work with 2G, 3G and 4G network in international location. If the network is not connecting for you, please call the Jio customer care and log a complaint with them.
Can anyone please help me to now the process of international roaming activation in india jio network after reaching Canada ??.. it is urgent, pleas help me out with the options … thanks
You can do it after reaching Canada. Just recharge the number with Rs. 1101 (online or offline via retail store)
Hii..
I had lost my mobile along with Jio sim in it. Right now I am in Ghana and I can’t move from here for next 8 month. My colleague is in India for vacation and try to get sim from India on behalf of me. I had given all proof which required for identification still , every store and official Jio staff saying person is to be physically present there for collecting the sim.
Please help me out I am not getting what to do.
For duplicate SIM collection, all the telecom operators will ask for the physical presence. If you took the SIM card using Aadhaar OTP based verification, then the physical presence will be a must here. You can ask your provider to keep the number active until you reach India. Later you can take the duplicate SIM
i am in sweden i came here before one week i didnt find jio network here if i try to search manual network all networks shows forbidden .
apart from this my friend has airtel sim but they have network on his phone nobody activate IR packs, i ready to install IR pack but here is no network…my all net banking is connected to jio sim i am not able to get otp code. my friend called on jio customer service they should you have to reacharge with IR pack 1101 rs but here is no network…..if i reacharged is it work?
IR is benifical if we make calls incoming or outgoing but i need only network for otp messages
Normally if you recharge for Rs. 1101/- it should work. As per Jio’s procedure, you need to recharge the IR pack while you are in India and later you can use the service abroad. However, for some countries, you can do the recharge even after reaching there. So try from your side. Do recharge with the pack, and if still no range, contact the customer care from another number.
I am off shore Malta, around 15-20km from land. I am getting full signal in my airtel sim, but nothing in jio. IR is active in my jio sim
You may need to contact the customer care. You can call them on their IR customer care. (+91-70188-99999)
Hi, I am Ashiq now working in Bahrain.I came here before 6 months. I didn’t find Jio network here.Still all my bank accounts are linked with a job number.I want to receive my bank messages. What will be done?
I think, it will be difficult for you to activate the IR on your sim now. But you can contact Jio customer care before making any IR pack. Call them before recharge.
Hi there!
Currently, I am in Australia. Can I activate the IR pack right now from Australia? Hope to hear you soon…
Currently, for some countries, some network issue may occur once you reached there and doing the recharge after. In that case, you need to check with the customer care first.
I am from Assam, need to visit bangladesh. I have jio prepaid, what should I do to keep the same no. to which I shall be connected. Can I be able to hide my location from friends. If they call me from India, can they be able to locate my destination, will be the caller tune be same. Which will be the better plan for one week. Kindly suggest.
You need to do a recharge on your Jio number with one of the available IR packs. Then you can use the number while roaming. Caller tune, free data, free voice, SMS, etc you won’t get while roaming.
You can enjoy call and data benefit using the mobile balance only.
Can anyone from my home town (India) can detect my location, abroad.
Nasim
No, it is not possible to get your location.
What will be the best IR pack for 7 days. Is it possible, that anybody calling from India can be connected with me, if they had no ISD pack. What will be the caller outgoing call charge, and what will be his incoming call charge, if I give him a call.
You can use the plan worth Rs. 2875. It is offering 7 days validity with benefits like 100 min calls per day (incoming and outgoing), 100 SMS per day, and 250 MB data/day. Anyone from India can call you on your Jio number as a normal local call. They don’t need any ISD pack since it’s just a local call. Here you are paying for that call with your IR pack.
I had a BSNL no. if I forward it to my Jio no. before leaving India will it be possible to recieve the BSNL calls as well.
Sure, you can do that. But in this case, you are forwarding calls from BSNL to Jio. So you should have an active unlimited call plan or Talktime plan with your BSNL number. Call forwarding is actually making a call from one number to another, so in the background, calls are made from BSNL to Jio and here you need balance on your BSNL number.
If I forward my BSNL no. to my Jio, will my BSNL no. work.
Yes, it will forward all the calls to Jio, so it is just a local call. So it will work as like once you are in India. But make sure you have enough balance with your BSNL number.
if i recharge IR pack of 1101 once in USA, can i keep my jio number active in USA for years by recharging min 149rs every month?
Yes, you can. It will be active all the time.
Hai
I am in IRAQ now. My jio IR package is activated. But still not getting signal. Kindly advice.
Please call on their dedicated IR support (+91-70188-99999)
I am in USA, my jio sim is not active( no signal)
If i do min recharge on alternate months.
Will my jio sim remain active
Hi Arun, You need to recharge your number with any International Roaming pack once, then you can perform the alternate minimum recharge to keep your number active. You will continue receiving SMS while you are in the US.
Hi Arun
I have a jio postpaid with international roaming facility on
Can I use this sim in the USA California ?
Will there be any problem if I convert it into jio e sim before traveling or I should avoid and keep physical sim ? Pls guide
I am traveling Tmrw
Thanks buddy in advance
There won’t be an issue, and you can use your Jio sim while in the US. You can use Jio eSIM also. However, what I recommend is to use Physical SIM itself. If something happens regarding the network and connectivity, it might be challenging to troubleshoot, as you cannot use the eSIM on any other mobile. Also, since you are abroad, if by any chance you change your handset, you can’t use the Jio SIM until you reach India. eSIM transfer is not available now.
I am having jio sim with one year validity. Now Im in saudi , can i activate roaming and use it for different countries like bahrain, jordan, turkey etc
Sure, you can use it.
Recommendations for country – CHILE ?
Important use is to receive SMS.!
Jio or Airtel
Oman IR pack deatails

Hello sir main saudi Arabia ja raha ho mere pass jio ka postpaid sim hai main kya kro ke main saudi ja ke jeh sim chala sako and jaise india mein chlta hai vaise hi chalta rehe ga plz reply sir
For a postpaid connection, there won’t be any recharge. You can activate it directly from the Myjio app.
I am not receiving signal on my Jio number in Singapore. I have not activated in International Roaming. Can I do it now when I am in Singapore? I need the number mainly to receive OTPs. Is there a way that I receive OTPs without activating International roaming? I am not sure about the recent updates, but in Airtel it was possible earlier.
Yes, you need to recharge the number with an IR pack. You can do it online or can ask someone in India to recharge.
Hi Team, I have a jio sim and its not working in papua new guinea country. Even recharged with international roaming of 1102 rs.
