How to create a bootable Windows 10 USB drive using Rufus?

Once you have downloaded the Windows 10 ISO file. The first step you should take is to visit the rufus.io website. Once you have reached the website scroll down till you see the download link so that you can download whatever the latest updated version will be currently it’s Rufus 3.0. Just click on the link and download the latest version of Rufus.

You can also use any other software which allows you to make a bootable USB drive but we would highly recommend you guys to use Rufus if you want to create the Windows 10 bootable USB Drive not only Windows 10 but also Windows 7, Windows 8, and any windows.

It’s highly recommended to use the Rufus and we will explain to you why later in this blog. Once you have downloaded the Rufus open it and now you will need a USB Drive minimum requirement is 8 gigabytes of USB Drive but you can also try it on 4 gigabytes of USB drive and let us know if it works on 4 gigabytes of USB drive too. But you know the Windows 10 ISO file is around 4 gigabytes so it might not work so we recommend you guys to use the 8 gigabytes of USB Drive.

Now you plug in that 8 Gb of USB drive in your computer or laptop and get back to Rufus. You can see the first option we have is the device. If you don’t know what is GPT (GUID partition table) and MBR (Master boot record) then you should know that basically, these two are partition types. So if you select the wrong partition scheme here it will not get MBI (Map based Index).

For example, if you have an MBR partition type like MBR hard drive and you selected the GPT and you created the bootable USB drive using the GPT scheme then it will not get installed in your drive because your drive is MBR. You can convert your drives from MBR to GPT or GPT to MBR. But you know the recommended drive is GPT if you can convert your drive from MBR to GPT because GPT can hold more memories, more ram, and all that kind of stuff. So, for example,

• Go into the search bar,
• Search here disk management,
• It should say create and format hard disk partitions, click on it,
• It should open the disk management and after that
• Select your disk from disk 0 to disk 1.

• Just right-click.
• Go into the properties.
• Go into the volume and,
• You can see partition styles.

If you have a GPT, so it means you have a GPT type of hard drive. So you have to create the bootable USB Drive using the GPT scheme. If it says MBR that means you have to select the MBR scheme so you can easily install portable without any problem so that’s how you check your drive type.

Let’s assume you have GPT,

• just select GPT and
• The target system should be just one option so it will automatically change whenever you change this scheme.
• Everything else just leaves it to the default.

Now, you are ready, you just have to click on start, and it will make your Windows 10 bootable USB Drive. Let me show you it’s tired and it will show some warning.

So make sure that you have backup everything if you have anything on your USB Drive, move it to another Drive, and after that click on ok, and as you can see it is creating a file system.
