If you are looking to stop or disable internet access for Adobe Photoshop, it can be done easily in a few steps. In this article, we are going to check a simple way to disable internet access for Photoshop. Before proceeding with this, we suggest always allowing internet access for frequently used and trusted applications like Photoshop so that you receive timely updates through the automatic update feature. Once internet access is disabled, no further updates will be received while the application is in the blocked state.
Note: These steps are performed on a Windows PC and the procedure is the same for both Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Steps to Disable Internet Access for Photoshop in Windows
Step 1: Open the Control Panel on your Windows PC.
Step 2: Then, open Windows Defender Firewall and click on ‘Advanced settings’.
Step 3: Now, click on the ‘Outbound Rules’ (left side of the window) option and select ‘New Rule’ (right side).
Step 4: A new popup screen will open; select the ‘Program’ option and click on the ‘Next’ button at the bottom.
Step 5: On the next screen, select ‘This program path’. Click on the ‘Browse’ button.
Step 6: Find the Photoshop installation folder, select the Photoshop file (Photoshop.exe), and then click ‘Next’.
Step 7: On the next window, select ‘Block the connection’ and then click on the ‘Next’ button.
Step 8: In the Profile window, select all the rules like ‘Domain’, ‘Private’, and ‘Public’ then click ‘Next’ once more.
Step 9: Finally, name the rule on the final screen. Provide any name for the rule, and the description is optional. Once done, click on the ‘Finish’ button.
Done! Now all the configuration is complete, and the Photoshop application on your Windows device will no longer have internet access.
Note: As mentioned above, you need to disable the above rule to restore internet access for Photoshop to receive further software updates.
