How do I delete my stories on Snapchat Web?

There are two different “Snapchat Web” URLs, and this trips up more people than you’d expect. If you’re logged into web.snapchat.com, that’s the chat-and-calling interface — it doesn’t have a delete option for Stories at all, no matter how long you hunt through the menus. Story management on the web actually lives on a separate page: profile.snapchat.com. That’s where you need to be.

Delete a Story via profile.snapchat.com

  1. Go to profile.snapchat.com in your browser and log in with your Snapchat username and password.
  2. Click My Posts from the menu.
  3. Under My Story, find the Snap you want to remove and click on it.
  4. Click Delete.
  5. Click Delete again to confirm — it’ll ask you twice so you don’t nuke something by accident.

Snapchat only lets you delete Stories Snap-by-snap, not the whole Story in one click. If your Story has six Snaps in it, you’ll repeat those steps six times. Annoying, but that’s how it works on both web and mobile.

Once you confirm a delete, it’s gone — there’s no undo, no recovery, nothing in a trash folder to pull it back from. Double-check you’ve got the right Snap before you click confirm.

If You Have a Public Profile

Public Profile posts can’t be deleted from the web right now — Snapchat’s own support docs flag this as a current limitation, not a bug. If your account is set up as a Public Profile (subscribers instead of friends, that snapchat.com/add/ link), you’ll need to open the mobile app, go to your profile, tap the Snap under My Story, and delete it from there instead.

Quick Way to Tell the Difference

  • Regular private Story, not on Public Profile → deletable from profile.snapchat.com
  • Public Profile Story → mobile app only, for now
  • Logged into web.snapchat.com and can’t find a delete button → you’re on the wrong page, switch to profile.snapchat.com

One more thing worth knowing: deleting removes the Snap from your Story and from your friends’ view going forward, but it doesn’t retroactively un-happen a screenshot someone already took while it was live. Snapchat can’t do anything about that once it’s out.
