Xiaomi Redmi Y2 With 3GB RAM And 16-MP AI Selfie Camera Launched in India at Price of Rs. 9,999

Xiaomi launched a new smartphone in India, which is the successor of Redmi Y1, the Redmi Y2. The most highlighted feature of the smartphone is its AI Powered front camera and the dual vertical rear camera. Other notable features of the smartphone includes, Face Unlock capability, display with 18:9 aspect ratio etc. The new mobile will be available in Dark Grey, Rose Gold, and Gold colour variants.

The smartphone will be available at a price range of Rs. 9,999 for the 3GB RAM/ 32GB memory variant and Rs. 12,999 for the 4GB RAM/ 64GB variant. The sale of the smartphone will start from June 12th via Amazon India, Mi.com, and Mi Home stores. As a part of the launch, the Redmi Y2 comes with few offers too. It include a Rs. 500 instant discount on ICICI Bank on credit and debit cards in the first sale, which is on June 12th. Airtel is also offering a Rs. 1,800 instant cashback to Redmi Y2 buyers, and up to 240GB data free.

Coming to the specifications, the Redmi Y2 comes with dual-SIM support which accepts nano SIM on both the slot. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with company’s own MIUI 9.5 UI on top. The handset features a 5.99-inch HD+ display with resolution of 720×1440 pixels and with an aspect ratio of 18:9, pixel density of 269ppi.

It is powered by a 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with 3GB/4GB RAM. The internal storage as mentioned above, it comes with 32GB for the 3GB RAM variant and 64GB for the 4GB RAM variant. The memory can be expanded up to 256GB via microSD card.

Coming to camera option, the Xiaomi Redmi Y2 comes with a vertically aligned dual camera on the rear side with a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. The secondary camera is AI based with a 1.25 micron pixel size. On the front side, the mobile features a AI based 16-megapixel selfie Super Pixel sensor with features such as an LED selfie-light, AI Beautify 4.0, and Face Unlock capabilities.

In case of connectivity option, the mobile comes with 4G VoLTE support and includes Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Micro-USB 2.0. In case of sensors, the Redmi Y2 is packed with a bunch of sensors such as accelerometer, an ambient light sensor, digital compass, fingerprint sensor (which can be used as a shortcut for taking selfies) on the rear panel, gyroscope, infrared, and a proximity sensor.
